Trunk growth rate frequencies as water stress indicator in almond trees

چکیده
The continuous monitoring of water stress will increase the accuracy deficit irrigation scheduling. Almonds are very sensitive to conditions and an important consumer. Recently, a novel approach use trunk growth rate (TGR) data has been proposed for olive trees. These works suggested TGR frequencies evaluate status aim current work was compare seasonal pattern three different indicators derived from daily curves diameter fluctuations with midday stem potential. During consecutive seasons (2017–2019), experiment carried out in mature almond orchard (cv Vairo) at Dos Hermanas (Seville, Spain). Fungal trunk pathogens associated with wood decay of almond trees on Mallorca (Spain)
Severe decline of almond trees has recently been observed in several orchards on the island of Mallorca (Balearic Islands, western Mediterranean Sea). However, the identity of the causal agents has not yet been investigated. Between August 2008 and June 2010, wood samples from branches of almond trees showing internal necroses and brown to black vascular streaking were collected in the Llevant ...
متن کاملEvaluation of Trunk or Scaffold Shrinkage in Walnut as an Indicator of Orchard Water Status
After about a decade invested in development of plant-based techniques to diagnose tree water status in orchards, midday Stem Water Potential (SWP) is being adopted at the farm level as a irrigation management tool in orchard crops such as walnut and almond. An alternative technique referred to as midday, shaded Leaf Water Potential (LWP) has also been developed for use at the farm level. Effec...
متن کاملImproving Growth and Performance of Young Almond Trees in Nursery by Optimizing Mineral Nutrition
Short growing season restricts production of standard-sized fruit trees in nurseries at cold regions. Enhancing plant growth by optimizing program of mineral nutrition may solve the problem. This study evaluated efficiency of fertilizers [urea, sulfur coated urea (SCU), or foliar applications of a NPK compound fertilizer] for optimizing the growth of seedling rootstocks and grafted young almond...

The objective of this research was to asses the feasibility of using maximum diurnal trunk shrinkage (MDS) obtained by means of LVDT sensors, as a plant water stress indicators for pomegranate trees. The experiment was carried out with mature trees grown in the field under three irrigation regimes: (i) control (well watered trees); (ii) trees continuously deficit irrigated at 50% of the control...

Container-grown quiescent Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii var. glauca (Beissn.) Trees from each treatment were either placed in root mist chambers held at 10, 20, or 28 degrees C for 28 days and root growth potential (RGP) and plant water po...
